So I havent posted in a very long time - since December it seems, mostly due to my new job blocking facebook and because I'm now attempting to fit in two persons lives in the same space as one.

New job is going well (I think) - I have an apprasil on Monday so I guess I will know for certain then.

KP is well - and for some strange reason still wants to marry me, which given that I can cock things up without even trying - surprises me no end.

Speaking of the wedding - I have a fitting for my suit on Saturday and KP has her first dress fitting. That sort of thing really rams it home to you and reminds you just how much is left to do.

Very close to taking my driving test - I have a new instructor since moving to Bristol and it all seems to have clicked into place - finally! lol.

Amnyway I hope everyone is well and hopefully we can catch up soon.

Ok so i havent posted much recently so time for a roundup.

The engagement bbq went well, thanks to the people who came and I hope you had a splended time.

Am now in a position of responsability over a small child. I'm hoping my general duites include reminding her of how much her dad sucks at Goldenye and spoiling her rotten.

My engagement present from KP was an xbox 360 - so there goes my free time....

I have discovered planning a wedding is as much about dodging bulletts as it is making a day special...

I'm happy and very much in love...which makes me lame....

I have been singed off of work for another week, which will make the total of my convalesence 3 in total. To be honest I'm starting to go a little stir crazy. I think i have watched the whole of my dvd collection and even got so board as to register for and play a bit of "Second Life" - which was crap btw and i dont recomend it.

With the Wii not realsing any online games untill Mario Kart (which i am so buying..) I wondered if those of you that have had had experince of online gaming could recomend any? The missues has gone back to work and I think an easy to pick up (and fun) online game might be the answer....

So my bank holiday weekend was fun - i spend sunday and monday in hospital after emergency surgery.
Feel like crap, every muscle in my body aches - which i am told is due to the anasthetic. I was on morphine which was the only thing that could dull the pain enough to let me stop thrashing about in agony - but even better than that was the oh so fun alergic reaction i had to the morphine.

Was on a drip because i couldn't keep any fluids down and im still on so many drugs i could start a pharmacy. Still at least im home now but even the simplest things like walking downstairs tire me out.

Will post more when i feel up to it, but i am on the mend.

I'm learning to drive again, which is both fun and annoying. Anoying because i have to spend at least an hour a night praticing the theory and hazard perception tests.

Downloaded a couple of classic games last night for my nintendo wii - and yes Mariokart 64 was one of them so beware all the fools who thought i had lost my touch.

Kirsty went to a birthday party in cardiff last night and my own plans fell through so i spent my first weekend alone in the house, our house, which has a nice ring to it. Its weird when i lived with Caroline i never felt more than a lodger but here i truly feel at home. I guess it helps not having to hide all my stuff away and having an equal say in what we do with the house. I know thats all normal when you live with someone but as my only other experince was with a crazy woman it's a bit of a shock.

Oh and to truly shock those of of you that know me well. Last week i assembled a butload of furnate on my own and plummed in a dishwasher and washing machine.

Yes, it seems mr Kenworth has become domesticated....

Well i have a roast in the oven so i better go and check i havent burnt it.

Well I went, I saw and I had an amazing time.

Its a funny place to try and anaylise actually, on the one hand it has some of the most amazing historical monuments and geography I have ever seen. And on the other its i saw abject poverty and wave upon wave of people harrassing you into buying things.

So i would say, yes, visit Egypt if you get the chance but only if you can put up with the hassle and keep in mind this is very much a third world country.

Stayed in Luxor which used to be the captial of Eygpt during the period known as the new kingdom. The hotel was on the nile which meant i had an amazing view out of my window. Its location also meant we were right next to the vally of the kings, Luxor and Karnak Temples.

Highlights included:

Hot air baloon ride over the nile and vally of the kings.

Karnak temple by night - they do a sound and light show that tells you which pharoh built what part of the temple.

The Valley of the Kings - which due to the intesne heat and surrealness felt like i was on another world.

The only real downside was the bought of "phaorohs revenge" (the stomach bug everyone gets).

Saturday on the way back from Bristol I discoverd what it is like to be in a fender bender.

We were at the junction coming off of the M5 back towards Dursley when someone decided they would run into the back of Heathers car. We are both ok and the car didnt have a lot of damage but it was not pleasant nonethless. Feel a bit stiff round the shoulders this morining but nothing to major. Heather was more anyoned with the fact she has just got the car fixed from the last time someone did that to her.

Still, could have been a lot worse and apart from that had a very lovley day in Bristol. Spent a lot of money on books and had a great meal at the Fish Bar in Clifton, which combined with the £60 I spent on a new creative zen mp3 player and the further £10 i spent on Sennheiser earphones (I saw the same model in a shop window for £39 on Saturday) means its time to tighten the belt for a month.

Anyway I'm supposed to be writing so I should really get back to it.

Book help

So after faffing around I have returned to "things change". I've deleated every other book ive been working on in an effort to concentrate on this. You see I had a brain wave and found a way to make it work. I've dropped the scifi angle and the main charater will now have simply been in the coma and aged (as opposed to not aging as he did before). I've also changed the ages of charaters to 17 and 30, and the timeline. It now starts in 1993 and switches to 2006. Ive reworked a couple of the charaters and simplified a few things and now it all clicks.

But, I have a query that I need help on.

Now this will be vauge as I don't want to give away the plot twist I came up with but here goes.

If person A gives person B an apple, then later in the book that apple becomes relevent to the story does it make for a better story if:-

1. The reader knows the apple was given from a scene written into the book

or

2. There are clues that something happened but the act of apple giving is not revealed untill the moment of the twist?

Personally I prefer option 2 but any other thoughts would be greatly appricated.

I'm glad i have this week off work as the last 2 days i wouldn't have been able to get in anyway. The evil forces of Hordak have made it snow, a lot, which has caused the trains to all say "nope, we aint working". Now you may think this is more Skeletors style but having met him i have concluded he has a bad rep bought about by that freedom hating fool King Randor.

The book is coming along nicley, research is all done, and I begain chapter one last night. This is actually a new book to the one I started a while ago (don't ask). That story is still one I wan't to write however i think i need to be a bit more competent before i do so. I found it very hard going, and I know i wanted a challange but not a bloody slog.

24 is improving, it didnt hook me on the first 3 hours but im now on hour 5 (of day 1) and its really starting to get interesting. Jacks' wife annoy's me and so does the dude in ctu with the soul patch whos purpose seems to be to question Jack's motives. But Jack is an interesting charater and I never know what he is going to do next.

Well, I'm off to brave the snow and by some milk.

Have respective good one.

These are all train related ones but all anoying nonethless.

1. People who purchase folding bikes and then don't fold them, but instead leave them in the middle of the corridor blocking other peoples access. Add to this the same people who expect you to help them moves other peoples bikes out of the way to get to theres. "Is nobody going to help me?" I hear a lot in the morinings and I think, if you have folded that up you wouldnt have a problem!!

2. People who sit on the train and take up 3 seats with their stuff, then when other people want to sit in one of those seats get all offeneded and huffy. To make this clear I am NOT talking about mothers and babies, I am taking about people who use the seat next to them as a place to put thier rucksacks, or like last week the woman who was using all of her the table and the three surrounding seats for all her stuff. She appeard to be working on something, but im sory you only pay for one seat so dont get offended if others want to use the rest of them!!

3. People who push onto a train as you are trying to get off - self explanatory really. To add to this people who push ahead of you as you are queing to get on the train. We are queing for a reason, not for fun so please dont be a twat.

4. People who dont understand the concept of "one set of stairs takes you up and one takes you down". It is there so that you dont have to be annoyed at people wanting to go up a flight of stairs when you are GOING DOWN THE WRONG WAY!!!! Quite often these are signposted for your conviniance, please read them and obey.

I'm sure there are more, feel free to add to the list.
4.

    <lj:music>office chatter</lj:music>

It's cold, very, very cold in the office at the moment. So could that up untill a few moments ago I had my coat wrapped round my sholders and my scarf still on. Apparanlty someone is coming to fix the heating today but I don't hold out much hope.

i'm on a diet again. I know its the thing to do in the new year but I'm goona give it the old colleage try. No crisps, sweets, bread with meals, smaller portions of everything and mostly pasta and tuna. Oh and lots of freash fruit. I did toy with going on one of the fancy diets but I thought I'd try a moderation first.

I'm writing again, a lot actually. I have set myself a regime of writing for at least one hour a day and since I started it have done just that. I'm doing more at the weekends of course but I find sticking to a regime of at least one hour a night keeps me in the frame of mind to write and not go off the idea like I have done in the past. I also think the laptop helps in this respect. It makes a whole lot of difference when you can sit down in a comfy chair in front of the log fire on Sunday and be creative.

Did a bit of overspending at xmas so now is the time to tighten the belt undo the damage. Now, see that is progress, before i would have buried my head in the sand and just used the pretend money of an overdraft - no more I say.

Anyway a promising start to the year, now if I can just find a non crazy woman things would be splended.

Of course if I had a woman I would probably spend less time writng so I guess it all balances out.
